The Morgan Stanley Global Research team has earned a reputation as one of the
dominant thought leaders in the financial industry for both equity and
fixed-income investing.

RESEARCH IN ASIA PACIFIC
Our analyst teams provide timely, in-depth analysis of companies, industries
and the world’s economies to assist clients with investment decisions. We
work primarily in three areas: company- and industry-level research;
economics; and investment strategy. Professionals in these three areas
collaborate to produce high-quality insights for our clients both inside and
outside Morgan Stanley.

RESEARCH SUMMER ANALYST PROGRAM
‧ Intensive 10 week program in Taiwan, commencing beginning of July 2010
‧ Summer Analyst gain exposure to Research by working in one specific sector
on a variety of projects. Past projects have included industry, company,
and market research and analysis as well as participation in the
publication of research reports and presentations
‧ You will receive continuing on-the-job training throughout the summer and
benefit from working alongside experienced professionals on meaningful
projects REQUIREMENT
‧ 3rd year Undergraduate or 1st year graduate students with financial
analysis capability
‧ You must graduate between December 2010 & July 2011 with outstanding
academic background and a keen interest in the financial markets

2010 Summer Analyst – Institutional Equity Division

The Institutional Equity Division aspires to be the First Choice of
institutions investing in global equity markets. Our clients are, among
others, governments, central banks, commercial banks, investment management
companies, insurance companies and hedge funds. We establish partnership with
clients, identify their investment mandates, objectives, styles and benchmarks
and provide them with customized advice, products and services.

INSTITUTIONAL EQUITY IN ASIA PACIFIC
The Institutional Equity Division has six core markets in Asia Pacific – Hong
Kong/China, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, India and Singapore – in which we have
a fully integrated equity sales and trading business. In addition, we have the
capacity to trade in the remaining markets comprising the region.
Institutional Equity in Asia Pacific is integrated into the global
origination, distribution and trading of equity, equity-related, and equity
derivatives business at Morgan Stanley. Our global distribution team members
are responsible for all client relationship management as well as all product
distribution. The Institutional Equity Division (IED) in Asia Pacific consists
of the following function teams:

INSTITUTIONAL EQUITY SUMMER ANALYST PROGRAM
‧ Intensive 10 week program in Taiwan, commencing beginning of July 2010
‧ The program is designed to provide a realistic view of consolidated equity
by having Summer Analysts assume the functions of full-time Analysts
‧ You are typically assigned to a specific client coverage team or functional
area. You will contribute to the coverage process as salespersons, sales
traders, traders or product innovation specialists
‧ You will receive continuing on-the-job training throughout the summer and
benefit from working alongside experienced professionals on meaningful
projects

and services effectively

Operations is the functional heart of all of Morgan Stanley’s activities,
playing a key role in ensuring that the firm delivers services and execution
that meet its market-leading standards. Operations covers an enormous range of
activities, from managing operational risk and efficient and accurate
transaction settlement to improving business processes and working with
Technology to realize the full potential of our IT system.

OPERATIONS IN ASIA PACIFIC
The firm’s commitment to business growth in Asia has brought significant
challenges including dramatically increased sales and trading volumes, a
constantly changing regulatory environment and a focus on more complex or
exotic products. Your great challenge – and opportunity – is to preempt

今天有位老師問我，何謂「中大化」（NCUlize）？他要我把這個名詞給個定義，
我隨口就說：

中大化的第一期徵兆是，跟外界接觸逐漸封閉、與社會對話的能力逐漸萎縮而不自知，
總認為中大很好。完全沒有反省能力、沒有行動能力，流口水比流汗水多。

第二期徵兆是：終於跟外界接觸、比較之後，知道中大人的社會接觸與社會對話能力萎縮
，卻無法有具體行動去加以改善，反正得過且過，中大的日子反正蠻悠閒的。

中大化第三期也就是末期的病症是：出了社會跟人家一比之下完全輸給其他原來你所瞧不
起的學校之畢業生，卻不能知恥知病、奮起直追，反倒是抱怨中大沒名氣所以自己頂著中
大名號行走江湖百事不順。

同學們，我講這些話很刺激、很不好聽，但是對各位的期許、對各位的期望，很深的…拜
託各位學長學姊，好好帶學弟學妹、振作振奮起來，積極去跟別的大學的同學「衝擊」、
「碰撞」，坦然面對自己比不過其他學校同學的短處缺點，勇敢去補足自己的欠缺，你才
會有未來、才會成功，也才能為母校中大爭光、增光，中大才能揚眉吐氣，你的學弟學妹
們才不會再怨嘆…
